National Trust was keen that these two puffins did not fly away so approached Geomarine to assist with the installation of foundations for the amazing willow sculptures, which will be in situ at Plemont for the next two to three years. The sculptures form part of an awareness campaign for these rare seabirds.
The footings consisted of traditional concrete pads and a steel H frame to which the puffins are fixed with anchor bolts, which were subsequently tested.
The birds are depicted ‘billing’, a sign of recognition and partnership between breeding pairs, who stay together for many years and are remarkably monogamous for the animal world – which rather appealed to our romantic side.
As always, Geomarine is proud to assist and be associated with the National Trust for Jersey.
