Negotiated via Teams during Guernsey’s lockdown 2, Geo are delighted to have recently handed over the basement, piled substructure and drainage scheme to an appreciative main contractor client on a large private housing development in the Village du Putron area of the Island.
Geo engaged early in the design development process to work in a pro-active and collaborative manner with Ravenscroft Construction, Engineer CBL, Architect PF&A and Quantity Surveyor Davies Associates. This can-do attitude was continued on site with Contracts Manager Maarten Angenent leading a highly skilled Team including the excellent Foreman Chris Beale, James Robinson and Martin Buddle. Geo’s drainage squads provided first-rate assistance as required with civils team members Fred, Mickey and Aiden also seeing the substructure works through almost from day 1.
The eye-catching location of the site will afford the ultimate client a beautiful panorama of Herm, although the single track privately owned road leading to the house certainly gave rise to a few logistical headaches! Neighbourhood diplomacy was also very much in evidence.
Maarten said, “Deliveries and concrete pours were sometimes tricky, with co-operation from the local residents a key factor in the project’s success”.
Geo effectively took over the site following demolition of the previous property and delivered once again on a multi-discipline civils build.
