The design and build NEC3 contract was a complex civil engineering project that involve marine piling, construction of berthing pontoons and a 24m steel pontoon for the lifeboat. Structural concrete works to waterproof and strengthen the quay wall within St Helier Marina, and the main marina wall were also carried out as part of the contract.

The quay side on the Albert pier was also developed to provide an entrance to the berths which was not only secure, but also enhanced the area. The building work on the quayside required detailed co-ordination of various sub-contractor designed elements and a high quality finish suitable for a marine environment.

The client’s consultants Marina Projects and Arup/Rothwells, project managed and engineered the scheme, with Geomarine engaging Hartigans as the designers for the structural elements and mechanical and electrical design.
