A relatively small addition to Geo’s piling fleet in Guernsey is already having a big impact.
Pioneered by chief innovator Wedd Osmond and implemented by Engineer Jon Greenfield and his team on site, the elegantly simple “bucket with a grab” allows pile lengths to be pitched vertically in one smooth mechanical operation. This negates any manual handling or slinging in the operation which in-turn removes the frontman from the business end of the pile hammer. As a result production is up and safety risk is down: a win-win scenario all ‘round.
As we go to press Jon - together with operators Martin Buddle, Russell Simon and Nathan McNamee – are already half way through driving 500 piles at the Longue Hougue Waste Transfer Station.
Jon commented, “The hydraulic grab is performing well and underlines our commitment to continually improving what we do and how we do it.”
